My 17th Birthday (Part 1)

Hi ya all! Hadn't been updating cause I was busy with school! Anyway I had my 17th birthday on 21st October and I had a few celebrations which I'm going to share with you guys! I will be splitting this blogpost into 2 parts because it will be too long!

The first celebration was on 19th October,a Saturday. My friends and I actually planned a birthday surprise for Yunxuan because her birthday falls on the 17th!So we decided to go to JianXing's house to eat pineapple rice (as an excuse.)But ends up PuayLin and JianXing surprised me and Yinghui too cause our birthdays are coming soon!

'' Happy Birthday... to yunxuan. Happy Birthday to you!'' ''And then they brought out another cake from the kitchen!

So here's a family like portrait. Left to right: (PuayLin,JianXing,Yinghui,Yunxuan and me) They are actually my lower sec classmates and Yinghui is Yunxuan's older sister! She also used to be my cousin's ex secondary school classmate!

Here's a close up view of the hazelnut cake! I didn't have it because I was kind of full from the pineapple rice and the oreo cheesecake!

 

Oreo cheesecake! This is really yummy to me as there's a crunchy cookie like layer at the end of the cake! The cheesecake just practically melts in your mouth and it just tasted perfect. 

I swear this JianXing is SUPER EVIL. He suddenly requested to take a photo with me and I agreed without hesitation. Turns out I HAD CHOCOLATE ALL OVER MY TEETH. It's too unglam to be posted here LOLOLOL.

After that,I went off early to meet Jiawen for a short catch up session at Northpoint.

20 October(Pre birthday eve)

Met up with Nadia,Monica and Priya because they've booked me for a cafe date during the holidays! It was also a Sunday.

I've met up with Priya first because Monica and Nadia went to Group Therapy to book seats first!

The one with the super bright smile and in maroon cardigan is Nadia! Behind her the girl with curly long hair is Monica. That's me opposite Monica and the one in a sophisticated updo and red lipstick is Priya! ^^

I had grilled ham and cheese panini! The salad tasted really good! I don't really eat vegetables most of the times but it was so delicious due to the fact they added sprinkled peanuts(kind of reminded me of rojak) and the sauce was a really perfect combination with the vegetables! The chips were so-so but I think I definitely prefer Mr Pringles chips HAHAHA. A bit bland and dry. I don't really like to have chips to go with proper food. The panini is like pancakes with fillings inside. There's mushrooms and ham! And also this weird veggie(not really veggie,like this leaf spice thingy which i don't know what it actually is) inside the panini which spoils the panini but the taste is bearable. I liked this meal but I don't like it enough to go back for this particular dish again.

Nadia ordered buttermilk waffles and Priya ordered chilli crab pie and Monica ordered steak pie. Monica was moaning about how she didn't like her pie but it tasted really good to all of us. I should have ordered her pie and she should have ordered my panini LOL.

Wanted to get the menu and more plain water and then Monica and Nadia went to get them. Turns out they bought a birthday cake for me!

It's my first time having carrot cake,not the chinese cai tau kuey but proper carrot cake! There's cheese cream on it too! Although the four of us share this slice of cake,we couldn't finish it because we were too full from our meals! :( 

A Causasian offered to help us take this! He saw Nadia taking for the three of us and just rendered his help! Really nice of him. Anyway it's like mixed ethnicity. Monica is half korean and I'm pure Singaporean and Priya used to be Australian and Nadia is chinese-malay(sort of). It's so cool how all of us are so different yet we can get along so well! They're my poly classmates from Nanyang Polytechnic! 

Here's a shot of Nad and me! Nad is the only one who calls me Zhil LOLOLOL. Pretty unique nickname if you ask me. All of them wore dresses that day! I should have worn a dress but I wanted to wear my new floral shorts. -_- 

As you guys have already seen the story on Instagram or Facebook,you might already know the epic story behind this photo. Around 8plus that night,I received a phone call from Jiawen and she told me to look outside my door. She told me she was standing outside. I ran out excitedly but I didn't see anyone or anything. I called her back and told her that. I thought she was just kidding and giving a birthday prank! ''I left a cake and a book on your shoerack! Don't have meh?'' ''Eh no leh. I'm serious.'' ''你不是住七楼meh?'' ''eh 不是啦！十楼!" ''omg faster run I left your cake and book there!!'' I laughed and ran to the 7th floor,finding a slice of birthday cake and a book on a stranger's shoerack! It's seriously so epic because Jiawen has been to my house so many times and she still can't remember the colour of my door. LOL I LAUGHED so hard that night. 

Didn't sleep well that night because I was a glutton and I finished the entire cake for fear that it will spoil by the next day and I only slept at 3am. -_- Suffered from indigestion..

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs // Department of Caffeine

Watched Cloudy with a chance of meatballs with Shahira on Monday. I'm not much of a cartoon person but this is a pretty light hearted movie,I would say!

The next day,headed out to Department of Caffeine with Syaf! Went to the red dot design museum to snap a few shots before heading to the cafe! Be warned,there is a lot of shots of me.. and me and me..

 Hadn't worn this dress for a long time so I dug it out and Syaf asked me to wear something ruggard so I threw in a denim vest in hope to make it more ''ruggard'' and I brought my hat out too and the end result is that I look like a tourist.

I love these 3 black and white candid pictures because they are real. I mean just look at my expressions. From disdain to blur to deliriously happy LOLOLOL. 

Buttermilk waffles with New Zealand Natural premium ice cream and blueberry compote // mango and fresh mint yoghurt smoothie. 

To be honest,the cafe interior design sucks.. and the waffles isn't really that nice. It's too hard and dry for my liking. I preffer those fluffy moist kind. The smoothie was good though,very chilling with a pinch of mint.

Ice Skating and Birthday Surprises

Feels weird to update about last week's events but here I am anyway!

Tuesday

 

I had dory zuppa for lunch at Pasta Mania with Priya because I didn't want to pick cheesy crumble every time I visit PastaMania! It's pretty appetizing! 

 Here is me owning the pool for a few seconds before kids came invading MY pool. Ok joking the pool is everyone's,not mine. Anyway,I didn't really work out much because the weather was too horrible during the afternoon and there were too much kids! 

Wednesday

  Went ice-skating with Priya and Monica at Jcube. Feels a lot like Wednesday belongs to us three! hehe.

The girl in red photo bomb me.. This would have been a nice photo without her.. That's Jiawen gloves you see in the photo HAHHAA. See that guy in camo pants behind me? He's a really pro ice skater!

That was my very first time skating! I hadn't even done roller blading on the ground before! I was really afraid to fall so I just stayed near the end,holding on for support. So touched Monica and Priya kept coming back to help me and hold me even though they could have skate more on their own! 

 Love them to bits hehehehe. Really bonded so much with them over the holidays! 

Anyway,bought a slice of chocolate cake and a box of macaroons and met up with Junyang to surprise Quanen! We actually waited for him for 1 whole hour at mac!! :< He wasn't even surprised.. but the only surprise element was Junyang because he didn't expect I will meet up with him. ''Actually I kind of know it already..'' Well,I told him I need to pass him JianXing's notes urgently and I guess he's not as guillible to take my excuse..... I feel so fail. -_-

Friday

Met Vetina around 10pm and we went under Liying's void deck. We actually planned this for some time but only me and Vetina could make it. Syafiqah had something on and Saif had promos. The plan was that Vetina would ask to meet Liying to pass her some souvenirs but she wasn't that surprised cause she saw me (I should have hide) but she was still surprised to some extent LOLOLOL.

Anyway,we spent quite some time reminiscing about the old times but to be honest,I rather not do that because .. it reminds me of some sad parts of my childhood and I don't really like myself back then because I was such a bitter and hateful person but oh well,happy parts and sad parts,they come in a package don't they? Either you experience a spectrum of emotions or you feel nothing at all.

Okay,this is the end of my blogpost and I'm sorry I took so long to update HHAHA. I was too lazy to do it. :P

Friday

I had dinner with YunXuan at Junction 8.

This is really an unflattering picture of me ( the angle sucks) but I think YX smiled really brightly here so I posted this.

Last Friday was her last day of work at Toast box so I finally got the chance to meet up with her for dinner!

Monday
There is nothing to update about the weekends as I probably spent my day watching running man. Anyway,I met up with YX again on Monday and she accompanied me to trim my eyebrows. It actually took me a lot of courage because I'm really afraid my brows would end up overly arched but it turns out quite well because I told the beautician not to over do it! YAY!

We then went to Salted Caramel for an ice-cream date! We racked our brains for places to go as we had limited budget. In the end,we just to decide to chill and eat at Upper Thomson.

There's YX's cookies and cream and milo crunch on the left and my chocolate sherbet and salted caramel on the right! I don't even know why I ordered chocolate sherbet when I don't even like chocolate that much. Anyway,it's 2 scoops for $5.60 which is really cheap for an icecream palour and the biscuit bowl/cone costs $1.

Hahha was feeling lazy so I didn't dress up. Just went out in denim shorts and a comfy striped T-shirt.

Yunxuan's icecream melted... into a river icecream LOLOLOL. A bit gross looking ah but she still drink until very happy LOLOLOL.

We finished our ice-creams but we didn't want to go home.. Checked the menu and decided we wanted something warm to drink so we decided to choose tea but we didn't know what to choose from! There's earl grey,English breakfast,chamomile and peppermint! I've heard of all these tea in novels before but I hadn't really got the chance to try!

The lady(idk what to call her. Ice cream scooper??) recommended chamomile as it's her favorite so we went ahead with that. It tastes pretty bland for YX but I guess I'm alright with the taste. We spent the whole afternoon just chatting and gossiping and embracing the quiet ambiance of the cafe.(Not many people were there since it's a Monday.) We talked about manicures and traveling to other countries when we graduated from polytechnic.

I love dates like this where you can just chill and talk about anything and you don't even spend much.Hehe and I finally brought her to Upper Thomson! Wanted to go after O's but there isn't a chance LOLOLOL.

I stared at my computer screen and to be honest,I no longer know how to type my inner thoughts out for the world to see. It feels like I am naked and it's a very vulnerable feeling and I don't like that.

I've been occupying myself with meet-ups with friends and watching shows online but deep down I actually feel really lost and lonely. My semester one results is actually pretty horrendous and I only have myself to blame. I hadn't exactly been putting in a lot of effort and I'm just smoking through things like how I always did,praying for miracles.

When it rained during the night and there's thunderstorms,sometimes I'm afraid I might die and I wake up with my heart thumping with an ache,I'm afraid I'll never get the chance to tell you how I actually felt back then. 

I don't ever think I'll get the chance to say anything but I think that's okay. Maybe there's a place and time for everything.

Today I saw a picture... I liked the picture. It was a stinging pain,the type where your skin got cut and there's a deep wound and you're bathing and you avoid water on it but.. it felt like I was deliberately putting water and salt on my wounded self. LOL. Maybe I'm a sadist.

Been switching between running man and stairway to heaven and it's like equilibrium of feelings. When I watch running man during the day,it makes me extremely delirious. But too much of happiness makes life surreal so I switched to stairway to heaven at night,indulge in my own world of melancholy. The same way I indulge in cafes,clothes and many more.

This post is getting more and more out of point but yeah I'm just typing whatever that comes into my mind.

September has been really good actually.
